I like to imagine this brief album being played in the 700 ft. light tunnel that connects concourse B/C with Terminal A at the Detroit airport (DTW), someone's living room on a Sunday morning, a rainy afternoon, or very late at night.

Recently I spent some time on the west coast with dear and old friends for reconnection and healing. It was long drives everywhere. Sea air. Waves permeated my psyche. The soundtrack involved a lot of nylon string guitars. I came home and started playing these tunes solo that were originally written for electric guitar with bass/drums. I recorded them in my basement. I used my dad's guitar, it's a Taylor.

For Christmas my dad gave me a tongue drum, thought the kids would enjoy it, and that I might enjoy its' meditative tones. We do. It is such a friendly, welcoming and generous instrument. I improvised these tongue drum tracks thinking they'd be a nice compliment to the very composed guitar pieces.

'Julia Florida' is a piece composed by Augustin Barrios Mangore (1885-1944), an incredible guitarist/composer from Paraguay.
